Lecturer in Organic Synthetic Chemistry

Salary: £31,513 - £35,469 per annum

As a replacement for the holder of an EPSRC Leadership Fellowship, you will undertake a full academic role in the area of synthetic organic chemistry. This will include undertaking teaching duties in synthetic organic chemistry, as replacement for the staff member on Fellowship, and you will also be expected to carry out a programme of original research in the broad area spanned by modern organic chemistry.

You will play a full role in the Department of Chemistry and undertake administration and other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

The Department of Chemistry is a very successful academic unit within the University, delivering teaching and research in a well-equipped and vibrant environment, largely within the Joseph Black Building. The Department, placed in the top-10 of the 2010 Times Good University Guide rankings, supports a large undergraduate population and a busy research programme that is carried out across the full range of modern chemistry areas. It is a partner in the very successful WestCHEM Research School, ranked in the top-10 of UK units on the power rating measure in the 2008 RAE, with strong and interdisciplinary links with a wide range of collaborators.
