Salary: c£35,000 + Excellent Benefits

Our client is at the forefront of the fire and security industry and is recognised nationally and internationally as a business super-brand. Their systems are used at the highest levels of government, defence, banking and top industrial and commercial companies.

This is brand new-role within a multi-million pound organisation. Our client has a very large subcontractor base and they have identified the need for a Supplier Manager to manage and improve existing relationships with subcontractors. The main objective of the role will be to link the supply chain network with the mechanical network, deal with subcontractors, monitor performance and find and implement different ways of reducing costs and maximising profits.

This role is ideal for a figure-head who can lead and inspire a cross-functional team of c200 within a multinational matrix environment. You will therefore possess excellent communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain key relationships internally with team members as well as externally with subcontractors, checking and supporting large project bids with operations and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sign off within existing process of all new supplier agreements with Purchasing, Quality and Health Safety & Environment

• Implementing procedures for monitoring subcontractor costs and efficiency

• Identifying areas for Subcontractor spend improvement, developing and implementation of action plan

• With Finance Department review monthly on cost savings actual versus budget target

• Develop relationships with new subcontractors that support the business requirements.

The Ideal Applicant:

• In order to be successful in this role, it is essential for all candidates to demonstrate previous experience of having successfully managed subcontractors. Ideally this experience has been gained within a fast-moving and complex environment

• Prior experience of mechanical and electrical installation Knowledge of the Construction, Mechanical and Electrical Industry

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both internally to team members and externally to clients/subcontractors

• Strong negotiation skills and the tenacity and determination to implement and follow through on action plans against resistance

• Excellent client management and business development skills

• The ability to lead and inspire team members

• Pro-active approach to problem-solving

• Ability to organise and plan a heavy workload in a pressurised environment to achieve targets against stringent time constraints

You must have the ability to present views and ideas in a clear and concise manner and influence at all levels. You will have a significant track record of achievement, innovation and cost-saving, familiar with liaising and negotiating at the very highest levels.
